When you have a problem or concern about a product or service it's nearly always best to get back to the company involved to try to help sort it out.  However, sometimes when you don't think the company has treated you fairly, you may need a little help.

 

Depending on where you live, and the type of company involved, you may find contacting one of the following organisation helpful.

 

New Zealand:

 
Banking Ombudsman:

The Banking Ombudsman scheme is a free, external and independent process to help people sort out their unresolved problems with banks. www.bankombudsman.org.nz
 
Insurance and Savings Ombudsman: 
An independent and impartial disputes resolution service who investigate complaints against participating insurance/savings companies or organisations. www.iombudsman.org.nz
 
Telecommunications Dispute Resolution Service: 
A free and independent service to help work out disputes between consumers and telecommunication companies. www.tdr.org.nz
 

Electricity and Gas Complaints Commission: 
A free independent dispute resolution service for complaints about member electricity and gas lines and retail companies in New Zealand. www.egcomplaints.co.nz

  

Office of the Ombudsman:
Independent Officers of Parliament who investigate complaints against central and local government agencies (including, in the case of the official information legislation, Ministers of the Crown). www.ombudsmen.parliament.nz

Financial Ombudsman Service:

Telecommunication Industry Ombudsman:
A free and independent alternative dispute resolution scheme for small business and residential consumers in Australia with unresolved complaints about their telephone or internet services. www.tio.com.au

Ireland:

 

The Consumers' Association of Ireland: 
An independent, non-profit organisation working on behalf of Irish consumers. www.consumerassociation.ie 

 

 

United Kingdom:

 

Consumer Direct: 
A government-funded telephone and online service offering information and advice on consumer issues. Consumer Direct is funded by the Office of Fair Trading and delivered in partnership with Local Authority Trading Standards Services. www.consumerdirect.gov.uk
